Back in 2008, during Waterford’s run to their first All-Ireland hurling final in 45 years, the Déise Army adopted ‘Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey as their unofficial anthem.
That year, the Munster side were unsuccessful in the final, losing out to Kilkenny (who else?) by a fairly humiliating score of 3-30 to 1-13.
Now, with Waterford back in the final, this time facing Galway, there’s a fair auld buzz about the place again. That’s proven by the scenes in this video of hundreds of supporters gathered in Apple Market in the city to watch their team defeat Cork in the semi-final yesterday.
As the final whistle goes, they all begin to belt out the Journey classic at the tops of their voices and the result is class.
They’ll all be hoping the song brings them more luck than it did nine years ago.
