We didn't know we needed a Banshees game in our lives until now.
While we're all a little sad that The Banshees Of Inisherin didn't take home any awards from the nine nominations it was up for, it did go home with the hearts and minds of Hollywood, with the combined performances of Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon, as well as the writing and directing by Martin McDonagh, leaving everyone hungry as to what they might all do next.
What we certainly weren't expecting was a video game adaptation of the critically-adored movie, which isn't to say that it is an unwelcome addition to our lives. Quite the opposite, as we can't seem to stop playing the thing...
Once you load up Banshees The Game, you'll see a Pacman-esque, top-down view of Inisherin, and you'll control Colm (Brendan Gleeson), as you travel around the winding roads, trying to collect your chopped off fingers, attempting to avoid all contact with your ex-BFF Pádraic (Colin Farrell), and make it back to the pub in one piece.
As time and levels go on, extra characters will be added to the island for you to carefully navigate your way around - Dominic (Barry Keoghan), Siobhán (Kerry Condon), Mrs. McCormick (Sheila Flitton), even Jenny The Donkey, they're all added into the mix - and if you make contact with any of them, you'll hear Colm say "I don't like you no more", and you restart the level.
From the earworm'y theme music to the way it begins with the word "PINT!", but made to sound like the word "FIGHT!" from Street Fighter, there are lots of tiny nods to enjoy within the game. But just don't blame us if you don't get any work done today.
You can play the Banshees game right here.
