Chaser gives update on second series of Beat The Chasers spin-off

James Fenton

If you enjoyed Beat The Chasers earlier this year then you’ll be happy to know that a second series of The Chase spin-off is on the way.

Quiz fans were given a treat back in the spring when The Chase aired its shiny new spin-off known as Beat The Chasers. Landing smack bang in the middle of the first lockdown, the one-week run of the new show was perfectly timed and went down a storm with audiences.

The programme was split across five nights and left viewers thirsty for more editions of the new format. It seems those prayers have been answered according to Chaser Jenny Ryan, AKA The Vixen. In a celebratory tweet acknowledging Beat The Chasers’ success at the TV Times Awards, Jenny wrote: ‘Thanks to all who voted, watched and enjoyed series one of Beat The Chasers. Watch this space for news about series two!’

She followed this up with the hashtag #ComingSoon so hopefully we’re looking at a new run of Beat The Chasers not too far into the New Year. If you’re not familiar with the format, the new version basically takes the numerical advantage away from the contestants and gives it to the Chasers. Contestants answer up to five multiple-choice questions in the cash builder round in a bid to reach £5,000 before they are faced with a decision that will make or break their chances of going home with some money.
They must then choose whether to take on just two chasers for the amount they have won in the cash builder or face more chasers for increasing sums of money. Also, the more money they go for, the more time the chasers have to hunt them down.

With new Irish Chaser Darragh Ennis AKA The Menace now in the mix, any new Beat The Chasers series should generate even more interest this side of the water. Watch this space.
