“It wasn’t an F bomb” – Tubridy clarifies what he ACTUALLY muttered during the Toy Show

James Fenton

It’s been three days and Ireland is still reeling from hearing Ryan Tubridy utter an expletive during the 2020 Late Late Toy Show.

On a night where the Irish public raised literally millions for charity, Toy Show host Ryan Tubridy shocked viewers by appearing to drop the F word while pouring himself a glass of Fanta. Giving a knowing look to the camera, Ryan’s slip-up caused much hilarity online, with Jedward describing the moment as “very 2020.”

However, it appears that Tubs didn’t drop the F bomb at all, or at least that’s what he told listeners on his radio show this morning. Explaining his version of events, the 47-year-old said: “the truth of the matter is, people thought it was an F bomb it wasn’t, strangely, it was a B bomb. You have to listen carefully, it probably rhymes with a word like ‘pollocks’ rather than anything else.”

Hmmm, starts with “B” and rhymes with “pollocks?” Well, that can only mean… oh, Ryan. It’s not as bad as what we all originally thought and the moment did provide some much-needed laughs around the country so we’ll forgive him this time.

If you missed any of the 2020 Toy Show, it’s available to watch on the RTE Player, with the expletive in question taken out. Until next year, Ryan. Keep washing those hands and your mouth while you’re at it.
