Series creator confirms that a Peaky Blinders movie ‘is going to happen’

Sarah Finnan

Show bosses yesterday confirmed that production has begun on season six of the popular BBC drama.

Peaky Blinders fans were on a high yesterday after it was revealed that production has begun on the new season. Commenting that the Shelbys are very much “back in business”, it was a somewhat bittersweet announcement from series creator Steven Knight who later confirmed that season six will be the series finale of the much loved BBC drama.

Hinting that the end doesn’t necessarily mean the end though, Knight stated that the story would continue in another form. Naturally taking that to mean that a Peaky Blinders movie could be a possibility, Knight has since given credence to those rumours – speaking to Deadline and saying that his plans was always to end things with a movie.

“Covid changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen.”

Details of said movie are still unknown and with production only just kicking off on season six, it’s unlikely that one will come to fruition anytime soon. Knowing that one is on the cards is enough to keep us going for now though… as are behind-the-scenes shots of the cast in action which you can fawn over here.
