Big news for the Treaty City.

This week brings with it news donut loving Shannonsiders have longed to hear – Original Glaze overlords Krispy Kreme have confirmed the opening of their first official store in Limerick City.

While the Irish donut obsession has ebbed and flowed over the past few years, it’s safe to say we as a nation remain as enamoured with Krispy Kreme as we were the first fateful night it stopped traffic in Blanchardstown back in 2018.

Over the past year, Krispy have announced the opening of 18 new locations across Ireland – including in Cork and Galway – but the news of a Limerick store is a welcome bonus for ringed-dessert enthusiasts ahead of the weekend.

The franchise have confirmed the opening of a new branch in Dooradoyle, to be opened sometime this Autumn.

As reported by Limerick Live, the exact location of the new store has not been confirmed but Dooradoyle is home to Crescent Shopping Centre, where Limerick Gardaí hold their annual ‘Cops and Donuts’ fundraiser in aid of Special Olympics Ireland.

Krispy Kreme has also confirmed it’s seeking a full-time permanent store manager for the Limerick store, to ensure all glazing and sprinkling runs smoothly.

Will you be first in the queue when the new store opens?
