Met Éireann Has Confirmed That Snow Is Expected Tonight With Temperatures Set To Plunge

James Fenton

The arrival of snow in Ireland has been hinted at for a few days now and with the air feeling particularly chilly it’s no surprise really.

It seems we could be seeing the white stuff sooner than expected as Met Éireann has confirmed that snow is on the way tonight as temperatures drop to between zero and two degrees.

The forecast for this evening reads:

Cold tonight, with frost setting in some eastern and northern areas soon after dark. Wet and breezy conditions will push in over the country from the Atlantic, preceded in some parts, by a transient period of sleet and wet snow. Temperatures between zero and plus 2 degrees early tonight, but values rising in most places by dawn.’

Those of you who revelled in last year’s Beast From The East will no doubt be hoping this is a sign of things to come. One day off work is all the nation asks (maybe two).
