Of Waterford, NYT writer Annelise Sorensen praised the Munster county for its sparkling history and natural treasures.
Sorensen spoke of the city's "cobblestone core" as well as the "less-ancient attractions" such as the recently opened Irish Wake Museum (otherwise known as the death museum) and the ever popular Irish Museum of Time, which was one of six attractions shortlisted for the best tourism project in UK and Ireland award 2022.
Waterford's natural beauty also lent itself to making it onto this list, with a focus on the "towering cliffs and scalloped cover" by the Copper Coast.
Well there you have it. Most people around the world reading the NYT will have to board a lengthy flight to enjoy Waterford's charms; we should count ourselves lucky that it's on our doorstep, with just a road-trip between us and the city's natural beauty.
You can find the whole list here.
