McIlroy and Lowry tee times for today’s U.S. Masters opening round

James Fenton

The Masters weekend has arrived and Irish hopes rest in the hands of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, with each man looking to don the prestigious green jacket for the first time.

Arguably the most-anticipated event on the golf calendar, The Masters gets underway in Augusta this afternoon, kicking off four whole days of action. Both McIlroy and Lowry are included in a very competitive field and a good start today will be pivotal if they want to still be in with a shout come Sunday evening.

The Masters is the only Major that eludes McIlroy in his glittering career and his latest journey to put that right will start at alongside Jon Rahm and Xander Schaufflele at 3.42pm Irish time. A little bit later, at 5.48pm to be precise, Shane Lowry will tee off with Justin Rose and Matt Kuchar as he looks to add to his memorable 2019 Open win in Portrush.

You’ll be able to see how both Irish golfers get on throughout the weekend on Sky Sports Golf and it all gets underway at 2pm this afternoon.
