So here are our favourite fine dining restaurants (in no particular order)...
Lovechild of the restaurant chain Cofoco, Höst stays true to Scandinavian style with both their stunning interiors and their carefully crafted foods. The atmosphere is relaxed despite their menu being uber competitive. This place will not disappoint.
Den Røde Cottage
This quant restaurant is quite the experience. This little gem is tucked away in a forest about 15 minutes from the city centre. Make sure you make a reservation well in advanced as this small, 20 seater restaurant is always packed to the brim. You've a choice of three to eight courses on the menu which changes monthly to keep in line with seasonal produce. This is one Michelin-star restaurant you have to try at least once in your lifetime.
What's better than being the best of the best? People actually fly from all corners of the world just to dine here. And with a reputation like that - it's extremely difficult to find faults. Food is flawless, an experience of it's own. Add Noma to your bucket list if you haven't already. Exceptional.
With their ethos being set on a small island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, the menu here has a strong influence straight from nature. Their presentation is absolutely out of this world and the smells and tastes will blow you away.
If you're looking for the real element of discovery, then you've come to the right place. Kokkeriet will make you so excited every time a plate comes to the table. And speaking of service, they're famous for being impeccable, super friendly and knowledgeable.
Some might think that wine might not play an important role when dining. You'd be wrong. In Era Ora, wines are suggested and really, really do enhance your experience. Era Ora really is the gold standard for fine dining Italian style in Copenhagen.
Based in the renowned Danish hotel, Hotel d'Angleterre, Marchal offers its customers an insight into a very French and Nordic influenced menu. This wonderful Michelin-star restaurant is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner - so you've no excuses for not coming here when in town.
The kitchen in Radio follows the season day by day and regularly post what ingredients are being used in the menu on their homepage. Radio has an inviting, informal setting, with a strong Danish design element. They have their own farmers who grow their veg fresh from field to plate and ensure they've got the freshest local produce on offer. It's a kind, 'buy local' attitude that gives every bite more substance. Let the food speak for itself.
"Relæ works on focused and tasty food, no muss, no fuss." And it's true, walking in here you could be mistaken for thinking it's just like any regular eatery. Incorrect. This place is strong competition on this list and some of the geniuses in the kitchen have previously worked in Noma. You can't go wrong here.
Walking in you'll be greeted with a clean, Scandinavian feel. Holding two Michelin-stars and based on the 8th floor in Fælledparken, Gerenium really keeps to its mission to create meals that involve all the senses – restores, challenges, and enriches. Absolutely incredible restaurant, a real must.
