Shannon Airport has taken full advantage of their runway this year, lighting it up like a giant, glowing Christmas tree.
Usually one of the busiest times of the year for airports and flight staff, this year will be a little different… but different doesn’t mean less festive as Shannon Airport has gone all out with their Christmas lights display to compensate.
Making sure that Santa will have no problems navigating his way to Co Clare, Shannon Airport has the place very well lit up. Home to the longest runway in Ireland, the airport launched a festive initiative earlier this week that saw said runway transformed into a magical, glowing Christmas tree – complete with a shining star and everything.
Confirming that the image will be sent express to the North Pole, it’s hoped that it will help bring some festive cheer to Santa and his team of reindeer as they prepare for their annual journey around the world.
Commenting on the beautiful display, a spokesperson for Shannon Group said:
“After a tough year for people in Ireland, we wanted to welcome Santa as he prepares to fly over Shannon Airport.”
“Christmas is still Christmas no matter what and a time of hope and joy, and we wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas in a festive way.”
