Taoiseach sends letter to Adam King: “You are an inspiration”

He’s not wrong.

As we get closer to the end of 2020, there seems to be more and more light at the end of the tunnel, but one of the brightest spots of the year so far has without a doubt been the world’s introduction to Adam King.

Following his appearance on The Late Late Toy Show a few weeks back, Ryan Tubridy brought him back the very next week so he could meet one of his space heroes, and since then An Post announced that millions of letters will be stamped with Adam King’s virtual hug sign this Christmas.

The positivity of Adam King has been a fantastic story at the tail-end of a bad year, and it is something that Taoiseach Micheál Martin is also very aware of, as he sent a personal letter to Adam King.

In the letter, the Taoiseach said the following:

“Dear Adam, in my speech to the country on Friday night, I thanked Ireland’s children for their strength and for the way you have all coped with Covid.

“When I was saying it, I could not have believed that just a few hours later the country would see such a perfect example of that strength on the Late Late Toy Show. Your virtual hug and your obvious kindness made the point better than I ever could.

“You are an inspiration Adam. Thank you so much for the strength you will have given everyone watching.

“Continue to be yourself, and your dream to work with NASA will surely come true. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your visit to the Irish Air Corp centre at Casement Aerodrome at Baldonnell. They are a great team who look after me and keep me safe any time I have to travel overseas.”

The Taoiseach added that he will “make sure that Santa gets a very good report through our diplomatic staff.”
