The most popular baby name in each Irish county in 2020

James Fenton

New data from the Central Statistics Office has revealed that a large number Charlies arrived in Donegal in 2020 while Noah was all the rage down in Clare.

The CSO revealed in recent weeks that Jack was the most popular name in Ireland for a new baby boy in 2020 while Grace came out on top for girls. But when it comes to each county, what names were chosen most frequently by new parents?

Well, given that they were top nationally, it’s only natural that Jack and Grace are number one in a lot of counties. Jack was the most popular boys name in the likes of Wicklow, Wexford, Cavan and Cork County, although James was top in Cork City. Meanwhile, Grace beat off other girls names in Tipperary and Mayo among others but other names were most popular in the likes of Wicklow (Lily), Kerry (Ella) and Meath (Ava).
