1. Space-themed names
Space-themed names could go two ways: names like Jupiter, Moon, Sun, and Saturn could all be making an appearance in 2018.
Or maybe this coincides with the recent hit release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but we can’t see many baby ‘Leias’ or ‘Kylos’ being born in 2018… Or maybe there will be.
On the other hand, baby Finn does have a nice ring to it.
2. Gender-neutral names
We saw this trend popularised in 2017, but apparently it is set to make an even bigger appearance in 2018 – names like Robin and Noah, recently made famous by Miley Cyrus’ younger sis.
3. Villainous names
Hmm… When we saw villainous names were becoming popular, we immediately thought of Scar from The Lion King, or Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
It turns out neither of these are on the list of most popular names of 2017, but rather Harley and Quinn are – following 2016’s Suicide Squad.
4. Bird names
Names like Phoenix and Birdie have been popular in 2017, according to Strum, and are predicted to make a comeback in 2018 for both boys and girls.
5. Virtuous names
Thanks to Kim and Kanye’s baby Saint, virtuous names are back on the rise. And celebs like Jessica Alba jumped on the bandwagon back in 2008 by calling her daughters Honor and Haven.
6. Botanical names
According to SJ Strum, Basil – like Fawlty – and Ferne are making a return.
7. Names for ‘wealth’ or ‘money’
Apparently ‘Cash’ is becoming a popular name for baby boys…
Not quite sure we see it for the Mancunian babies of 2018, but each to their own.
8. Shakespearian names
According to Cosmopolitan, names like Balthazar, Oberon, Juno, and Ophelia have made a reappearance i popular baby name lists.
