Danny Healy-Rae Makes Another Outrageous And Ridiculous ‘Drink’ Statement In The Dáil

Darragh Berry

From the man that brought you “the road conditions in Kerry are caused by fairies” and that “God above, controls the weather” (when asked about Climate Change) and from the TD that failed to keep awake during a Dáil meeting, Healy-Rae has had some bizarre moments and said some bizarre things in the Dáil.

The Irish Examiner is reporting on Tuesday evening that Danny Healy-Rae told the Dáil that a pint and a half of beer “never made anyone drunk.”

The statement was made during a debate on new road traffic laws where the Kerry TD was replying to a proposal that would reduce that alcohol limits for drivers.

Healy-Rae said that doing this would “destroy rural Ireland”.

The bill has been brought forward by Transport Minister Shane Ross, (who accidentally voted against this, his own bill, a few months back).

“Why are you trying to criminalise hard working people who just want to be left alone”, Healy-Rae said.

“Everything that is being done is hurting rural Ireland, how have Fine Gael let you do it.”

Independent Alliance TD and Government deputy whip, Sean Canney and former Independent Alliance member Michael Fitzmaurice are some of the members of the Dáil who are also against the proposed bill
