The Green Army have left Lille behind, and headed on to Lyon with great expectations for our match against France on Sunday.
Our very own Daryl Bolger has been over there having the craic, and last night he got the chance to chat to Kyle Patterson, bar manager at Lyon’s biggest Irish bar, Kelly’s Irish Pub.
Kyle has this to say on the bar’s preparations for Saturday and Sunday:
“We’re opening six hours earlier than usual, we’ve ordered enough Guinness, Magners and lager for an army; a month’s supply of drink for those two days. The French love Saint Patrick’s Day so that’s our busiest day of the year but these will be second, we’re expecting big things from the Irish fans.”

In terms of the crowd, he’s reporting the same thing we’ve been hearing across the board: the Irish fans are a delight to have around.Â
“I think the crowd will be here early, very loud and progressively boisterous, in a good way; plenty of singing and dancing, whats good is there’s Welsh, English and all as regulars here and they’ll all want Ireland to win, the Welsh were going crazy last night for the goal last night, nearly as much as the Irish”
