This New Cup Has Been Introduced To Help People Drink More Sensibly At Home

Drinking at home has definitely become increasingly popular over the last few years, with a night out now generally sandwiched between a few pre-drinks in the house and maybe some cheeky afters as well.

However, our measures in the kitchen are definitely more generous that those handed out by bar staff and Drink Aware has launched a new campaign to encourage sensible drinking over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The organisation is now distributing a cup that helps people to accurately measure spirits, wine and beer in line with standard drinks measures.

Apparently less than one in ten people can correctly identify a standard measure so you could be in for a shock!

One standard drink is a half-pint of beer, cider or stout, a 100ml glass of wine or a 35.5ml measure of spirits.

Women are advised to drink 11 standard drinks over the course of the week, with the recommended limit for men set at 17 standard drinks.

Something to think about!
