We Went On A Cruise And It Was More Fun Than We Could Have Ever Imagined

Alan Fisher

Seriously, it was amazing.

When me and the lads were booking it, I think I had the reaction of most – isn’t a cruise for the older generation?

I don’t know why that is a stereotype, but I can confirm that I was wrong and it was so much fun.

At the end of our J1 we ventured down to Miami and got the Majesty Of The Seas cruise around the Bahamas.

Our ship was quite basic considering what you can get so I would definitely take a look at the options before you dive in. Like, look at this:

Firstly, it was actually quite cheap because there was a hurricane passing through the area but ended just as we set up. I don’t urge you to go on trips during hurricane season but hey, a great way to grab a cheap trip.

The first day, as you set off, spend your day exploring the boat. I can’t get over how big this thing is. So easy to get lost and loads to do. As a group of lads, we spent most of our time at the rooftop pool. What more could you really want?

Sailing through the Bahamas, beer in hand, and chatting nonsense. Perfect.

The price includes all of your food and there is a constant buffet on for when you are hungry.

On top of that, you can book in for a bit more of a fancy dining experience where you get a little dressed up. The food is delightful and the waiters sing and dance throughout the meal. Bit of craic.

There are certain days you dock on different islands where you can just sunbathe, do some activities like jet skiing or, like us, just sniff out the bars.

One of the stops is Royal Caribbean’s private island, Coco Cay, which is paradise. Clear water and white sand.

The nights are spent grabbing some food and then heading to one of the bars after the nighttime entertainment which normally includes you getting up to dance with the staff.

What I enjoyed most, and was most surprised about, is the diversity of people that go on it. There are so many people that it includes all ages and you won’t be long meeting mates.

I really couldn’t recommend jumping on a cruise if you get the chance – visiting some of the nicest places on earth while having the craic out at sea.
