Sligo’s Sweet Beat café to donate takings from beverage sales today to Women’s Aid

Katy Thornton

Following the tragic news about Ashling Murphy, Sweet Beat café wanted to do something in her memory.

We are a country in shock after the news of school teacher Ashling Murphy’s untimely passing. It’s hard to think of anything else right now, and everyone, including the hospitality sector, have been sharing their condolences for Ashling and her family. It doesn’t seem right to simply return to business as usual. Vigils are being held across the country to honour her memory, to grieve the terrible way that she died.

That’s why Sweat Beat café in Sligo are donating all takings from tea and coffee sales today to Women’s Aid.

Sweet Beat café is based on Bridge Street and opens today from 9am to 5pm. If you’re a local, why not stop by to get your daily caffeine fix from Sweet Beat in order to donate to a great cause?

And if not, maybe consider donating to Women’s Aid if you’re able to. They do some incredible work, acting as a service that listens, believes, and supports women who are victims of abuse.

Our thoughts go out to Ashling’s family and friends at this terrible time.
