These 100 Vintage Baby Names Are Due To Make A Comeback In 2018 According To Experts

Darragh Berry

Are you expecting in 2018 but you’re stuck on a baby name? Well, look no further because you can be guaranteed that nobody else will have thought of these names for their newborns.

Nameberry –  a leading baby name website – likes to review something every year called the ‘Hundred Year Rule’.

They do this in the hope of looking back at the popularity lists of a century ago and seeing if they can find some faded flowers with revival potential.

“1918 was the year when women (over 30) got the vote in the UK, Daylight Savings Time began, Billy Graham was born, the first Tarzan movie debuted and there were new books by James Joyce, Willa Cather, Proust, Kafka, Freud and Churchill,” (keep these events in mind as they inspired names in the late 1910s).

They continued: “Top of the list were the perennial John and Mary, followed by James and Dorothy, Robert and Margaret, Charles and Ruth. But we’re more interested in looking deeper into the lists, which paid off by finding 100 great names from the 1918 Top 500 that aren’t even in today’s Top 1000 – but could find their way back.”

These names have been split into 50 for boys and 50 for girls and there are some extremely strange names on this list…
