My die-hard Dub Da will scalp me if he ever reads this, but I was pretty happy with the result of the match on Saturday.
He and the rest of my family would say it’s because I don’t actually know the first thing about GAA and have no idea what this means, and they’re probably right. But from an outsiders perspective, that streak had to end. Needless to say I’m not the only one who thinks so, pretty much every corner of Ireland erupted into a rousing rendition of The Green and Red of Mayo when the whistle blew on Saturday evening. While I can’t give you an informed commentary of the match itself and how everything went down, I can show you the best and funniest twitter reactions to the result. That’s just as good, right?

This train conductor using their platform to spread the good word.
2,540 days. 45 games. Six All-Irelands in a row. Brian Fenton's first ever championship defeat. Highly unlikely we'll ever see a run like it again. Dublin have been unbelievable, but football needed it to end. And nobody deserved to end it more than Mayo. Unreal drama

These are the kind of tweets I read so I can pretend I have a clue what’s going on.

Ara, you love to see it.
I’m still floating on air! I brought my little man to his first #GAA game.
He is obviously Mayo’s lucky charm!
We met such beautifully gracious Dublin fans after the game.”

To be fair, if Matthew was still in there they’d have to get the word in somehow.
