10 Trips Everyone Should Take In Their Lifetime – According To Travel Experts

Sarah

The time has come to start planning your summer holiday for this year, but where oh where to go? Forget about lounging around the pool in Spain or sipping some vino in the south of France. Yawn.

For some serious travel inspiration why not make it a once-in-a-lifetime trip? Business Insider released a list of the top spots everyone should visit in their lifetime, according to travel experts.

1. Wander around Cradle Mountain, Tasmania

Michael Reay, Editor at HolidayPirates, said: “Tasmania’s unspoilt wilderness, spectacular views, and incredible wildlife makes it a place that simply has to be on your bucket list.”

2. Catch the sunset at Goðafoss, Iceland

Travel blogger Charlotte Riemann says “it’s called the land of fire and ice for a reason. Waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, and the Icelandic hospitality are our favourite things about this country.”

3. Glide through a cloud forest in Ecuador

“From the earth, it is hard to see the sky; from the sky no-one can see the earth,” travel writer Abi King said. “But in the middle of those places, beneath a canopy of trees, visitors to eco-resort Mashpi Lodge can cycle through the air, fully immersed in the impressive emerald beauty that lives beneath the treetops.”

4. Ride a hot-air ballon in Cappadocia, Turkey

Travel editor India Dowley says “now scattered with underground cities and carved out cave dwellings, Cappadocia has only begun to attract visitors in recent years.”

5. Peek into Jackson Hole in Wyoming, USA

Daniel Houghton, CEO of Lonely Planet, told Business Insider: “Incredible snow, beautiful views, Jackson is a skier’s heaven. Exhibition Run, one of the toughest in North America, is a particularly difficult but rewarding feat.”

6. Light a candle at Birgufest, Malta

“Birgufest’s beauty lies in its simplicity: lit candles across the city create a glittering illusion,” Abi King says.

7. Gaze at exotic animals on an African safari

“Waking up before dawn to hear hyenas cackling before setting out into the bush and seeing families of elephants, great prides of lions and the occasional, elusive leopard in the early morning light is a one-of-a-kind experience,” Srin Madipalli, a travel website CEO said.

8. Admire the natural beauty of the Faroe Islands

“It’s only a one hour flight from Scotland but feels like a million miles away,” said Lloyd and Yaya from Hand Luggage Only. “Imagine towering waterfalls, vast glacial landscapes, and an island nation that is amazing to explore.”

9. Satisfy your inner explorer in the Amazon Rainforest

Passion Passport study abroad correspondent Avery Stolte said: “I was only an insignificant speck in the vast rainforst around me. And yet, never before have I been part of something so significant.”

10. Like Bladerunner? A trip to Tokyo is a must

“Japan isn’t just a country, it’s a whole new universe! As well as Tokyo’s bustling and vibrant Akinabara District, visitors must see Shibuya Crossing and Senso-ji Temple.”
