Waterford is Ireland's oldest city and with such a long history behind it, there's no shortage of interesting things to see and do.

However, once the heavens open, options can be a bit limited. That doesn't mean you should be stuck in your gaff as there are plenty of indoor activities that can keep you busy on a wet day.

Take your pick from this little lot!

Reginald's Tower

The focus of Waterford's Viking Triangle, visitors can go inside and climb the stairs to the top.

Once there, you'll be able to learn all about the Vikings' arrival in Ireland through physical displays and video screenings.

Virtual Reality Vikings Tour

Sensing a theme? Waterford has long been connected to the Vikings and in today's modern age, there are more ways to learn about them than ever.

The King Of The Vikings tour is based on Bailey's New Street and is a brilliantly interactive way to pass a couple of hours on a wet afternoon. More information can be found here.

Waterford Crystal

The most famous crystal factory in the world can be found at The Mall in the city.

Here, you'll see exactly how one of Ireland's most well-known exports is made. The tours last approximately 90 minutes and there's no need to book in advance. So, if it suddenly starts pouring down you can just wander in.

Grab a pint in one of Ireland's cosiest pubs

On the road to Dunmore East you'll find one of the cutest pubs in the country.

Aggie Hayes' is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, with buses from the city regularly bringing enthusiastic visitors to sample the atmosphere, the drink and the music.

Explore Curraghmore House

When Curraghmore isn't hosting the annual All Together Now festival, it serves as the home of the 9th Marquis of Waterford.

The grounds are nothing short of stunning and can even be admired from your car, as you drive around in the pouring rain.
