It looks like the country is set for another bout of grim weather after yesterday’s yellow warnings for several counties.

Met Éireann has now issued a status yellow weather advisory with ‘severe weather’ expected across Ireland on Saturday.

The weather advisory reads, ‘Potential for severe weather on Saturday, December 15. Hazardous conditions may result from heavy rain, and possibly wind also.’

Yesterday they also issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford that is valid up until 6pm this evening.

As well as that, a yellow wind warning is also in place for Wexford, Cork Kerry and Waterford until 2pm today, with gusts of up to 100km/h expected.

The forecaster said Saturday will be “a wet and windy day with heavy rain throughout much of the country”.

They continued, “Strong winds will also develop, from a southeast direction during the morning and then a westerly direction in the afternoon.

“These westerly winds may reach storm force across the north of the country during the evening. Winds easing overnight with the rain turning more to showers.”
