BREAKING: Vera Twomey Wins Lengthy Battle To Allow Daughter Access To Medicinal Cannabis

James Fenton

Health Minister Simon Harris has signed a licence for Ava Barry to access medicinal cannabis.

The Cork girl’s mother Vera Twomey’s battle gained public attention earlier this year when she embarked on a walk from Cork to Dublin in order to raise awareness of Ava’s plight.

Seven-year-old Ava suffers from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome and began cannabis treatment in The Netherlands in June.

Ms. Twomey posted a video on her Facebook page today confirming the news and thanking all of her supporters.
