'€5.50 For A Bottle Of Water – I Should've Had A Guinness Instead'
What on earth possesses places to do this?
Few things in life are more infuriating than being grossly overcharged for something.
Sure, we can all understand paying a slightly higher price for five-star surroundings – and we absolutely have no qualms with dishing out top dollar for top food.
But when places are charging €5.50 for a 330ml bottle of bog-standard sparkling water, then something is radically wrong. And that's exactly what happened to one reader at Lough Rynn Castle in Leitrim.
The reader, Jana, also confirmed with staff that this was the correct price for the bottle.
Nope, i asked to double check if that was correct. Barman said yes 😒— Jana Solovjova (@JanaSolovjova) June 19, 2016
There's no denying that this is a top-notch establishment, and should be the sort of place that we're proud of showing off to tourists.
But a small bottle of water that costs more than a pint of Guinness?
