Few things in life are more infuriating than being grossly overcharged for something.
Sure, we can all understand paying a slightly higher price for five-star surroundings – and we absolutely have no qualms with dishing out top dollar for top food.
But when places are charging €5.50 for a 330ml bottle of bog-standard sparkling water, then something is radically wrong. And that’s exactly what happened to one reader at Lough Rynn Castle in Leitrim.
Got charged €5.50 for a bottle of water in @LoughRynnCastle. Should’ve had a Guinness #whatrecession @LovinDublin pic.twitter.com/PzXHsbRdmG

The reader, Jana, also confirmed with staff that this was the correct price for the bottle.
Nope, i asked to double check if that was correct. Barman said yes ????

There’s no denying that this is a top-notch establishment, and should be the sort of place that we’re proud of showing off to tourists.
But a small bottle of water that costs more than a pint of Guinness?
Ah here.
