A “Second Serious Road Traffic” Collision Has Occured In Ireland Today Gardaí Confirm

Gardaí in Macroom, Co. Cork are investigating a serious road traffic collision that occurred between a truck and a pedestrian (male teenager) on 1st February.

The collision occurred before 7.30am on Thursday morning at Ballyvodane between Firmount cross and Ballyvodane Cross, Donoughmore.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.

The teenager was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are described as serious. The male driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses especially anyone who may have been on that stretch of road between 7am and 7.30am to contact Macroom Garda station on 026 20590, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

This news comes after Gardaí confirmed a serious road traffic collision had taken place in Leinster on Thursday morning, just an hour after the incident in Cork.
