Ireland about to receive the first batch of the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine as almost 10,000 doses will arrive in Ireland today.
It comes after the cases in Ireland are on the rise again with 1,025 new cases confirmed yesterday.
Health Service Executive CEO Paul Reid took to Twitter early this morning saying that it was ‘an early morning start to a momentous day. Heading off to take receipt of the first delivery of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for the HSE. There will be better days ahead for sure’.

Dr. Tony Holohan also confirmed that a more contagious form of coronavirus has been detected in Ireland and passengers from the UK are to strictly self isolate for 14 days.
The first vaccinations are expected to be administered on Wednesday.
