While your colleagues might drive you demented with their accounts of a 6am workout, it looks like you’ll be getting more benefits with your evening regime.
Research published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning shows that you get the most of out of your workout in the late afternoon, with strength and flexibility at its best.
Scientists reckon that this is due to body’s 24-hour clock, which causes body temperature to rise by one or two degrees as the day goes on, so your muscles are easier to warm up and work more efficiently.
Makes sense, eh?
The research also showed that if you do stick to an early morning exercise routine, once you workout consistently, you can improve your performance to afternoon levels.
