Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly Will Appeal His 12-Week Ban For Carlow Incident

Dublin footballer Diarmuid Connolly has decided to appeal the 12-week ban he received for laying his hands on the shoulder of linesman Ciarán Branagan during the Dubs’ win over Carlow earlier this month. 

According to RTÉ, Dublin GAA has decided to go down legal route after initially accepting the punishment. 

If the ban stands, Connolly will be out of action until August 27 which would be just before a potential All-Ireland semi-final for the Boys In Blue. 

His offence comes under Rule 5, as outlined below.

The appeal will be heard by the Central Hearings Committee in the coming days.
