The food scene in Ireland feels like it has moved to another level in the last couple of years with a serious depth of world class restaurants.
We have the very best produce in the world on our little island which certainly helps, and when you look at what some of the talented men and women across the country are creating you really would be missing out by not working your way through this list.
From the very northern tip in Portrush right down to Cork and Kerry, and from the capital right across to Galway we’ve put together some of the most exciting foodie experiences.

1. Moran’s Oyster Cottage – Galway
Probably the most authentic place in the country to eat oysters which come in the smaller, flatter Galway version.
A total delight.

2. Fitzpatrick’s – Louth
We called it the very best pub in Ireland and the food itself is about as good as it gets. Come with an appetite as the portions are massive.


3. OX – Belfast
An absolutely class restaurant that has been wowing locals for the last couple of years.
Worth a trip to Belfast for a weekend of fun which would certainly be capped off by eating here.

4. Mulberry Garden – Dublin
An absolutely cracking restaurant in Dublin that is somewhat hidden away but those who know it are passionate fans.
Menu constantly changing and the ingredients they use are top class.


5. Fishy Fishy – Cork
Does exactly what it says in the name with some incredible fish dishes served across this two floor restaurant. It’s been around for years but is as good as ever.
If you haven’t been, you need to get down here ASAP.

6. Campagne – KiIlkenny
An incredible fine dining experience in Kilkenny that has been getting rave reviews for some time.
Free up a weekend and get down to this great city for some of the most amazing food you’ll eat in Ireland.

7. Tannery – Waterford
A townhouse, restaurant and cooking school that has been knocking out superb food for years.
Ask anybody who has been there and they’ll rave to you about the place for 10 minutes straight.

8. The Happy Pear – Wicklow
The twins are well-known for their cooking books, TV appearances, social media accounts and radio interviews but their food has always been what makes them stand out.
Be prepared to queue, but it will be well worth it.

9. Wild Honey – Clare
Make sure you book in to stay overnight and make the most of the experience with a few drinks alongside the amazing food.
Worth a very special trip.

10. The Black Pig – Cork
A wine bar in the wonderful town of Kinsale that makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside and surprises you with some amazing small plates of food.
A beautiful foodie experience from start to finish.

11. The Cottage – Leitrim
When it comes to amazing good we always think about the big cities and towns like Dublin and Galway but to ignore Leitrim would be a sin – especially when you are tasting food at The Cottage.
A truly wonderful Irish rural, foodie experience.

12. Global Village – Kerry
You’ll have to travel all the way out the Dingle Penninsula to get to this great restaurant. Along with the wonderful scenery and the great pubs in the town, you’ll get to eat world class food with amazing service.

13. La Cucina – Limerick
Started as a small cafe but always punching above their weight with a huge online presence and large loyal customer base.
Wonderful Italian food that is rustic, tasty and wholesome.

14. Kai – Galway
Some of the most inventive cooking in the country.
While all the food is amazing here – you have to try the cakes. The only issue being that once you’ve had cake here you’ll never have any better anywhere else in the world.

15. Etto – Dublin
A gorgeous little brasserie on Merrion Row which cooks beautiful, luxurious Italian brasserie-style food.
Tuck into some of their smaller dishes with some great wines and you’ll be in absolute heaven.

16. 1826 Adare – Limerick
The rustic cottage setting and chic country décor along with the superb food and top end service make this a wonderful place to spend time.
You’ll walk out feeling like a million dollars.

17. Pigeon House – Wicklow
They’ve a couple of restaurants, like the one in Clontarf, but the pride and joy is in Delgany in Wicklow.
World class cooking, wonderful service and a class setting make this a beautiful experience.

18. Harry’s Shack – Derry
Perched on the coast in Portstewart, this is a restaurant with possibly the best view in the country.
Add in wonderful food, passionate customers and you have an absolute gem.


19. Heron And Grey – Dublin
This tiny restaurant in Blackrock was awarded a prestigious Michelin Star in 2016 and you’ll do well to get a table as they are booked out for months in advance.
When you do, it’ll be one of the greatest meals you’ve ever had.

20. The Ballymore Inn – Kildare
Been cooking amazing food while also growing their own fruit and veg for over 16 years now.
This is a wonderful place to eat with service s good as it gets anywhere in the country.

21. Loam – Galway
One of the very best restaurants in the entire country which has been getting rave reviews and awards for the last couple of years.
Worth a very special trip just to eat there.
