Gardaí Investigating After Dead Baby Found In Boot Of Car

Darragh Berry

Radio Nova is reporting that Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant whose body was discovered in the boot of a car.

The infant died on March 29 in Co. Offaly but the body was discovered days later in a car book before being taken to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on April 1 and found that the child died from natural causes.

Gardaí have confirmed that an investigation into the sudden death of the infant is ongoing.

They have not, however, confirmed whether they will be treating the death as suspicious.

It is understood that the case came to the attention of the Gardai after the mother presented herself to the hospital.

The radio station is reporting that “the mother had suffered a stillbirth in the vehicle a number of days before.”
