Ireland Is Getting Its First Ever Prosecco Festival

Brian Dillon

Get ready for fizz, fizz and more fizz. Because Cork is being treated to Ireland’s first ever ‘festival of prosecco’, and we cannot wait.

The event, which is being run in association with Tindal Wine Merchants and the Perlage Winery in Italy, will start this week and feature a stunning series of bubbly related events until May 24.

May 10 will see the Metropole Hotel on McCurtain Street host a ‘History of Prosecco’ masterclass. Attendees will be treated to a fabulous prosecco cocktail upon arrival and will have the chance to taste different proseccos from the Perlage organic winery located in the Veneto region of Italy.

A prosecco cocktail masterclass will take place on May 17 where guests will learn how to make different fabulous cocktails like French 77 Proseccos and Bakewell Fizz.

To finish off the festival, guests can indulge in a four-course meal and, of course, prosecco, introduced by winemaker Elena Brugnera from the prestigious Perlage vineyard.

Guests will again be able to sample different types of prosecco such as Soraloc Prosecco Frizzante, Sgajo Prosecco Spumante DOC extra dry, Canah Prosecco Superiore DOCG brut and Col di Manza Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

Events will also be taking place in Cork International Hotel and Cork Airport Hotel throughout the month of May.

The Met Bar at Metropole Hotel will also have flights of prosecco on offer, meaning you can get three glasses for €15.

We have a feeling we’ll be getting a decent fix of fizz over the month of May.
