Just as the country is coming to terms with Hurricane Ophelia and the devastation that has followed, it appears that another storm is set to hit the country this weekend.
It’s reported that Storm Brian will pass through Ireland later this week, bringing strong winds and rain nationwide.
A Met Éireann spokesperson, John Eagleton, told The Independent that it won’t be as severe as Hurricane Ophelia.
He said “it’s a moving depression rather than a hurricane. It’s moving south and will bring a lot of rain and strong winds.”
As #Ophelia slips away NE, and our winds ease, all eyes are on this weekend, when we could be welcoming #StormBrian. #onetowatch #UKStorm pic.twitter.com/CU4fwD8DAV

Storm Brian is expected to land on Friday, which will see a wet and windy day before it heads south-east towards the UK.
Saturday and Sunday’s weather will be the same with a lot of heavy rain and strong winds expected.
