Lyra McKee Memorialised By New Mural

Rebecca Keane

A mural has been erected to remember the murdered journalist.

Lyra McKee was shot during rioting in the Creggan area of Derry last week and later died at Altnagelvin Hospital.

The culprit responsible for her death has not yet been found and a reward has been offered for anyone with information.

The 29-year-old journalist’s funeral was held Wednesday 24th April and saw hundreds of people attend, including President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Support for the deceased journalist has grown and her memory has since been captured in a mural at Belfast’s Sunflower Bar.

The mural is located outside the Belfast pub, which is not far from St. Anne’s Cathedral, where McKee’s funeral was held.
