There’s been unsettling developments this week in the battle between the US and North Korea, as the latter has threatened that “nuclear war may break out any moment”.
North Korea’s deputy UN ambassador, Kim In Ryong, warned on Monday that the situation “has reached the touch-and-go point” and referred to large scale military exercises following escalating threats between North Korea and the United States.
The ambassador told the General Assembly that his nation has been subjected to ‘extreme and direct nuclear threat’ from US, according to Reuters.
He referred to the US plan to to stage a “secret operation aimed at the removal of our supreme leadership” and said that in response, North Korea has become a “full-fledged nuclear power”.
He said: “The entire US mainland is within our firing range and if the US dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe.”
On Sunday, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the North Korean crisis “will continue until the first bomb drops.”
