PICS: Famous Television Actor Reveals She’s “Irish” And Firmly Behind A ‘Yes’ Vote

With just over two weeks to go until the referendum on the Eighth Amendment, attention is turning from asking people to register (May 8th is the last day) to urging people to use that vote on the 25th, no matter what side of the fence they are on.

Whether you are voting yes, voting no or still undecided, the important thing to do is make your opinions known on the last Friday in May.

One person who has surprisingly come out as “Irish” and who is standing firmly behind repealing the Eighth Amendment is that of television star, Sarah Hyland.

Hyland is one of the most recognisable faces on television at the moment as she currently holds the role of Haley Dunphy in ‘Modern Family’.

She took to Twitter in the last 24 hours to state that she feels that people should vote yes and stated her reasons why also:

I am a woman. I am Irish. I have a slew of health complications that COULD put me in a situation where I would be forced to make a heartbreaking decision. If I was a resident of Ireland, the laws in place would kill me. I understand this all too well.”

As well as this, she also retweeted several tweets from people who will be voting yes on the referendum including a video from ‘Together For Yes’ which shows a whole range of famous Irish faces backing a yes vote.

Hyland has revealed in the past that she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia when she was very young and even received a kidney transplant five years ago.

The 27-year-old has had ten surgeries to try and improve her health and as result of her illness, has difficulty gaining weight and muscle mass while also being ordered to bed-rest as revealed in this interview.
