Met Éireann had issued a snow and ice warning that was due to be in effect until 12pm today, but the alert has now been extended until tomorrow.

The Status Yellow warning from the meteorological experts will now last until 11am tomorrow.

It's expected that scattered wintry showers will occur the across the country today, isolated in the southeast. Then tonight, wintry showers will become mainly confined to western and northern parts of the country. Conditions will be icy.

Take extra care when travelling by road this weekend, folks.
