It’s not every day we hear a British royal drum up the courage to have a go at a cúpla focal, but Prince Harry gave it a lash last night at the summer garden party in the British Embassy.
The Duke and Duchess touched down in Dublin yesterday for a two day visit.
TV3’s Zara King captured the moment Harry tried his hand at Irish in the below clip. The prince’s speech begins at about the 9:28 mark if you skip to around 13 minutes, you’ll hear Harry wrestle with the phrase “‘Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine” which translates to “we live in each other’s shadows”.
This echoed President Higgins’ remarks when he visited Britain back in 2014.

He may have mangled it slightly, but fair play to him!
