New Transport App Is Going To Become Your Best Friend In The Mornings And Evenings

Darragh Berry

Ah the struggle of commuting.

Whether it’s having to get the bus, train or luas, it’s a right pain in the arse and more often than not, you’re left running to get to your stop or platform because you forgot to check the time.

Well fear not, a new app has been introduced which will help make that morning, evening or any time of the day commute that bit easier.

‘Leave now (Transport notifications in Ireland)’ allows you to schedule notifications for when your bus, train or Luas is about to reach its stop.

You can schedule these notifications to repeat on a weekly, daily, particular days or just once off occasions.

Essentially, it works like an alarm but instead of waking you up, it’s getting your legs into gear to catch your mode of transport.

The app works with Irish Rail, Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann and all Luas services and gives you a notification when your bus is ‘x’ minutes away (you control what time frame you want x to be).

The good news is that it has been getting five star reviews but the bad news is that at the moment, it’s only available for Android users.

The creator of the app said that:

“I’ve tried to make it as simple, small and basic as possible. I plan on doing some work on it and to make the notification options more configurable.

“The app should work with Dublin Bus, Luas, Bus Eireann and trains and you can select what routes you would like to be notified for.

“The idea of the app is that you can schedule notifications to run at a set time on set days (and repeat weekly) to let you know when your bus/train/luas is about to arrive at your stop. Its far from perfect right now but it should be useful to some people.”

Sounds like a handy app to have.
