Don’t come here unless you’re going to order their famous Wagyu Hamburger. Come in anticipation of a bit of a queue – Rockpool is so popular every day of the week. Their service top class and the atmopshere pretty unrivalled. Wash down your burger with a cold beer or cocktail.
9. Merrywell
If you’re in the market for a big, juicy burger you’ll find it in the Merrywell – order the Oz Burger. Their prices may be on the more expensive side of things but you’ll get an all-round great experience that’ll leave your body (stomach) and mind totally satisfied. If you come here during the week, you’ll find yourselves surrounded by city workers and casino-goers. Lovely modern kit-out here too – think fine dining rather than American diner.
8. Brother Burger and The Marvellous Brew
Two words – Mushroom Burger. Brother Burger is the perfect place to meet friends and watch the world go by. If you don’t like mushrooms, don’t worry – they’ve a rather extensive burger menu so you’ll be spoilt for choice. They also have a huge selection of craft beers and ciders to choose from. No excuses not to come here now!
7. Mr Burger

If their photo food porn is anything to go by then you know you’re in for a meat treat heading here. If you’re looking for a big, greasy, filling burger Mr. Burger ticks all the right boxes. Their prices are low and quality high which is what keeps their customers returning day after day.
6. 8bit
8bit do a super burger. They’ve really nailed the science of a burger – the size and ratio is perrrrfect. Not too big, not too small, juuust right. Goldilocks would be their number one fan. Come here hungry and add the salted caramel shake to your order. Do it.
5. Fat Bob’s
Don’t let the name put you off coming here – although the burgers will be nice to your taste buds and mean to your waistlines! Great beer, great fries and great burgers (and try their popcorn chicken). You’ll get it all here. The best thing about this joint is the value – everything is so reasonably priced compared to others in Melbourne.
4. The Royale Burgers
What these guys offer is simple – tasty take away burgers with great outdoor seating so you can people watch the shit out of your eating experience. No fuss just good tasty meat in a delicious milk bun.
3. Tuck Shop Take Away
These guys produce what we can only describe as really good looking burgers. Can you have a handsome burger? Yes. Just look at that perfectly-rounded meaty dreamboat. Amazing burgers here but they also bake some amazing treats and serve up some artery blocking milkshakes!

Hot Burgers – Cold Beers. That’s a straightforward motto they stick to. You’ll notice similarities to Five Guys and if that’s your type of burger joint then you won’t leave disappointed.
1. Rockwell & Son’s
Number one for a reason… Rockwell & Son’s offers a diner meets bar meets fine dining feel when you walk in – we’re not quite sure what that is but there’s certainly something very special about the ambience here. All the produce has been locally sourced, making it super-high quality and fabulously fresh. Double Smash Patty Burger is simply the best thing you will eat in Melbourne. Great pride is taken in presentation and you’ll notice the staff have amazing energy and all these elements shine through!
