We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Riga is fast becoming a favourite spot for foodies to flock to so they can eat their way around the Latvian capital. And what’s a good feed without a great drink? Nothing, that’s what. So we’ve done the hard work for you and gathered the watering holes in Riga. So here they are (in no particular order cause they’re all great):
Pulkvedim Neviens Neraksta
If you like to party but prefer partying in the laid back sense of the word, then this place is for you. It’s clubbing warehouse style. You’ll be dancing away to the greatest tunes of the 80’s and always have a pretty good DJ offering. Pulkvedim Neviens Neraksta is open 6 days a week! Get in.
Skyline Bar
Make sure you come here during the last couple of days of your trip. This is one of the best places to enjoy a few cocktails in the luxury of a sleek skyline bar on the 26th floor of the Radisson Blu in the centre of Riga. Just look at those views!
B-Bārs
If you’re looking for a lively place with amazing atmosphere to have a few drinks in after a nice meal then come here. You cannot escape B-Bārs without having one or more of their amazing cocktails that are on offer. It’s a hugely popular place with the locals which is a very good sign of a well-run business.
Piens
Piens has featured on one of our lists before as a great place to go to if you need to get some work done but want to have a couple of beers too! This place is somewhat of an institution and perfect for any time of the day depending on what you’re looking for. Piens is a very popular venue for creatives, journalists, musicians and general hipsters. It’s a cafe, meeting place during the day and then turns into a bustling venue in the evenings.
XIII
XIII or ‘Bar 13’ prides themselves in their out of this world cocktails and bar bites. Absolutely ideal if you’re going on a date night and looking for intimate surroundings.
Aussie Backpackers Club
Perhaps a strange setting for an Australian themed bar, but when you walk in here you’ll soak up the authentic down-under atmosphere immediately. This place is pretty big – spread over 3 floors of fun, you’ll get to experience Aussie beers and enjoy their happy hour (that lasts for two hours)!
Labietis
This place would make any hipster feel at home. From their lovingly-made interior to their 12 craft beers that are brewed on the premise and made using American IPAs, English bitters and Latvian herbs, this ticks every alternative box going. The staff are known for being super-friendly and it’s located just behind Piens so either start here before going wild or happily hide out in this stunning bar.
Chomsky
Another great hipster bar in Riga, Chomsky’s rugged look makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time and walked into an older person’s home. And that’s the vibe they’re going for – you’ll instantly feel relaxed and hours will pass you by without noticing. Craft beers on offer as predicted.
KKC (Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs)
Looking for live music? Then look no further than this place. It comes highly recommended by locals. They’ve a huge list of events to suit all tastes and fill any creative void. Think of a gallery, come bar, come nightclub – would definitely be our fist pick of the bunch!
