Looking for a fright this Halloween? Check out this creepy night time tour of Wicklow Gaol

Fiona Frawley

There are two types of people in this world.

Those who absolutely live for a good scare, and those who can think of nothing worse. I definitely fall into the first camp.

It’s hard to explain why. I always find myself on the hunt for the most terrifying possible film, researching haunted houses late at night and generally trying to scare the bejaysus out of myself. What can I say, it makes me feel alive. Some go sea swimming for an adrenaline rush, I watch movies about terrifying spectres living in attics. Ironically, it doesn’t take much to scare me at all. Someone could jump out from behind a bush in Corrie and I wouldn’t sleep for a week. But don’t worry. If you’re on the hunt for a far more intense fright than that, we’ve found just the thing.

Set in the haunting surroundings of Wicklow Gaol, Gates of Hell is a fully immersive tour which will transport visitors back to the 1700s. We’re talking corruption, we’re talking rebellion, we’re talking ghostly appearances from some of the gaols most notorious prisoners, people. Wicklow Gaol was named one of the most haunted places in the world in 2013, so we’ve no doubt the ghouls will be out during this night time tour. Still feeling brave? Tickets for the event on October 29th are available HERE.
