Brennans Bread to enter the world of NFTs with sambo inspired artworks

Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, have taken the world by storm in recent months – especially if ‘taking the world by storm’ can be defined by everyone and their granny asking “what even is an NFT?”

NFTs allow people to buy and sell ownership of unique digital items and keep track of who owns them using the blockchain – if you still have questions, here’s Paris Hilton explaining it in more detail on Jimmy Fallon. Obviously.

Meanwhile on home soil, Irish institution Brennans Bread have announced they’re looking for a slice of the NFT action, and will be launching four unique artworks over the next month, all inspired by the nations favourite sandwiches. Ten ‘prints’ of each artwork will be sold on Bubblehouse, the world’s first carbon-neutral NFT marketplace, for €1.87 – the approximate price of a sliced pan.

“Ham and Cheese on Family Pan”, an NFT by Brennans Bread.

Brennans will also be creating one “extra-special” NFT sandwich, to be inspired by fan submission. Sandwich makers can have their say on what sliced sensation will become the final piece of art on Instagram.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Head of Marketing at Brennans Bread Ivan Hammond said:

Brennans Bread has been around for generations, and we’ve seen lots trends particularly around the area of innovation come and go. When we heard that NFTs offer people a chance to own a slice of history, we knew we had to get involved! We think our NFT menu is one of the most exciting combinations to hit the sandwich world since sliced bread – tech and tradition together in perfect harmony, creating something beautiful. We’re looking forward to celebrating these works of art that are created every day in kitchens across the country.

Today’s NFTs, Today.
