If you’re looking to do something productive this weekend then you need look no further than the 2018 Walking Festival in Dingle, Co. Kerry.Â
Taking place from Friday February 16 to Sunday February 18, participants will be able to take part in a number of walks around Europe’s most western peninsula, taking in gorgeous scenery along the way.Â
With the routes ranging from easy to moderate, there should be something to suit any walker no matter their expertise or experience.Â
Some of the walks cost a small fee but there will be packed lunches provided to keep hunger at bay.Â
Here’s a selection of what will be taking place…
Friday February 16 – Night walkÂ
Meeting at 6pm outside Danno’s restaurant and bar, this is a 4km walk around the town of Dingle. There is no fee for this one but people are requested to make a donation to Dingle Coast and Cliff Rescue Services. The walk is expected to take 40-50 minutes.Â
Saturday February 17 – Walk 1Â
This moderate walk will take in Dingle Bay and The Skellig Rocks including the route used for filming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.Â
Finishing up at the beautiful Dunquin with return transport provided, this walk costs €20.
Departs at 9.30am
Saturday February 17 – Walk 2Â
Taking about three hours, this walk along the Slea Head Road costs €10 and departs at 11am.
Sunday February 18 – Walk 1Â
Departing at 9.30am and taking about four or five hours, this walk will take up a large chunk of your day.Â

Sunday February 18 – Walk 2Â
Costing €15, this walk will take you along Burnham road, looking across Dingle Harbour and Dingle Town. Weather permitting, it will also head up to Eask Tower which was built during the Famine.Â
