Here’s What You Should Eat Before a Night Out To Avoid a Hangover

Megan Cassidy

With all the meticulous planning that goes into Christmas party prep, we can tend to easily forget the basics. Like, you know, the small matter of nourishment.

Office parties are prime scenarios for forgetting to eat. You have your lunch, scramble to wrap up your last bits and bobs before 5:30pm, and all of a sudden you’re three glasses of bubbly in and you haven’t eaten a thing since lunch.

And we all know that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is a fast-track to the headache from hell the next morning, but turns out choosing your pre-drink nibbles wisely can drastically reduce a hangover.

Nutritionist Naomi Mead told Cosmopolitan that eating good fats before you booze is the best way to fortify your stomach for the night ahead.

This is because fats slow down the rate at which food leaves the stomach, meaning alcohol will be absorbed into the bloodstream slower.

Good sources of healthy fats include salmon, avocado and nuts.

Just please, PLEASE don’t microwave your fish in the office kitchen.
