This Halloween, we're giving away an amazing weekend away for two at the Castleknock Hotel to the person who can tell us the scariest ghost story. To find out more, and to vote for this story to win, see below!
This actually happened my father, who's always by the book and straight talking. He told me years ago that when he was aged 12 in 1968 he was playing football with three other friends and a child was standing about 100 yards away looking at them.
He said that child, who was of a similar age to him, looked sad and was dressed in clothes that looked like they where from the 1940s. My dad and his friends called out to the child to join them to play football so they walked towards him, as they did the child took a few steps to the left — and was gone.
My dad and his friends thought he went through a gap in the wall, but when they got up to that part of the wall there was no hole or gap. It was a solid wall.
