This Irish Museum Is In The Running To Be The World’s Leading Tourist Attraction

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum has been announced as a finalist in the annual World Travel Awards. One of fourteen finalists, the museum is up for the coveted title of World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2019.

The World Travel Awards, now in their 26th year, are the most prestigious global travel awards in the industry. So, naturally, this would be a major win, not just for the museum but for the whole country. Previous winners include the Las Vegas Strip and Machu Picchu.

The museum, recently named as Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction, has enjoyed huge popularity since opening and anticipates over 300,000 visitors this year alone.

According to Aileesh Carew, Director of Sales and Marketing, EPIC is one of the only museums in the world to honour Irish people and people of Irish descent. So this is our chance to show our support.

Other Irish attractions to have been recognised at the awards are Titanic Belfast, crowned World’s Leading Tourist Attraction in 2016, and Spike Island which featured as a finalist in 2017 and 2018 consecutively.

Up against some stiff competition this year – EPIC is running against The Great Wall of China, The Taj Mahal, Table Mountain and Machu Picchu to name but a few.

Voting for the award online is now underway and the public can vote for EPIC here. The final will be held in Oman on 28 November 2019.

Here’s hoping the luck of the Irish pulls through for us once again.
