Galway City Council has closed Blackrock Diving Tower until further notice after large crowds gathered in Salthill over the weekend.
A popular swimming spot with both locals and visitors to the area, Galway City Council has made the decision to close Blackrock Diving Tower to the public until further notice. Brought into effect earlier this afternoon, Galway Bay FM reports that the decision follows a consultation between city officials and the Gardaí in Salthill. Gary McMahon, a spokesperson for Galway City Council, has said that the facility will remain closed for the foreseeable future with the decision being reevaluated on an ongoing basis.
