The woman has been named as 29 year-old Rita Apine, who’s understood to have a young child according to RTÉ News.

Her body was discovered in a house at Bridge Street in Freshford shortly after mid-day yesterday with serious injuries. She was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny, where she later died.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the investigations and is being held at Kilkenny Garda Statkion.
